Good to Know

The hostel is open year-round, and you can book a room or rent an entire cottage (to book an entire cottage, select all rooms in the house). The reception is partially unmanned, and information about key pickup and other important details for your stay will be provided at the time of booking. A map of the village is available on the notice boards at both entrances and at the reception in the farm shop.

About the Accommodation at Åsens By

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Shared laundry facilities
  • Pets are allowed in all rooms/cottages (dogs must be kept on a leash in the reserve)
  • Garden furniture and a grill are available at each cottage
  • Fixed fireplaces are available along the hiking trails by the Timber Cottages, the shelter at Tuta Källa, and at the Nature Station next to Lake Ruppen
  • The village is car-free, so children can play freely and safely. The playgrounds (Leket and Lekladugården) and the farm museum are open year-round.
  • Self-catering is in effect, but the following optional services can be pre-booked:
    • Breakfast bag (coffee/tea, bread, butter, spreads, eggs)
    • Rent of bed linen and towels
    • Final cleaning

Directions

Some GPS systems may suggest detours. Enter Haurida Church in your GPS, and at the church, follow the signs for the hostel. Free parking is available at the entrance to the reserve. It is not allowed to drive within the reserve, but you are welcome to drive in to unload and load your car.

Check-In and Check-Out

When we are on-site, check-in and check-out happen at the reception in the farm shop, located on the ground floor of Tekla’s barn. If you arrive outside of these hours, we will leave the key and map of the village in the key box outside the Farm Shop, where you will also return the key if we are not present at check-out.

  • Check-in: From 3:00 PM (earlier if available)
  • Check-out: By 10:00 AM at the latest

Payment

Payment can be made by card, Swish, or cash at check-in or check-out. If we are not on-site, we will arrange payment details in advance. If nothing is arranged, we will send you an invoice.

Parking

It is not allowed to drive within the reserve, but you are welcome to drive up to your cottage to unload and load your car. Afterward, you can park at one of the entrances. We recommend the southern parking lot (Haurida entrance) if you are staying at the hostel. Both parking lots are free of charge.
