Farm Museum and Exhibitions

The Farm Museum, Tekla’s House, and the exhibitions in the Granary are just as exciting for young and old visitors alike. Here, you can learn about Sweden’s history in an authentic setting with clear traces of the village’s past inhabitants. All exhibitions are open year-round and are free of charge.

Farm Museum

In Södergården’s barn, you’ll find the farm museum with tools from the village. There are explanatory texts for the items, and on the ground floor, there is a play barn for the youngest visitors.

Tekla’s House

Tekla’s House has been restored to the condition Tekla left it in 1989, without electricity or water, and with period-appropriate furnishings. Step inside and take a journey back in time.

Current Exhibitions

The Granary in Tekla’s garden hosts various exhibitions. Right now, you can enjoy and learn through the photo exhibition “Horse Farming at Åsens By” and the exhibition “Butterflies at Åsens By.” During the winter months, we bring in the exhibitions to protect them from the winter moisture.

Dance Benches at Åsens By

Enjoy a unique dance experience – on-site but digitally. At the event area and the arch bridge near Södergården’s barn, you’ll find QR codes that lead you straight into performances by the dancer Jessica Andrenacci. Inspired and produced right where you stand.

A Dance Bench is a digital dance experience that aims to make professional dance art accessible to all residents of Jönköping County. Read more about Dance Benches here

Our exhibitions have been created with support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development.
