Children’s Åsens By

At Åsens By, there is plenty of space for little ones with energy to burn. The playgrounds in the village are open year-round; on rainy days, we may close them, but we never lock them. Open the doors to a bygone era and let your imagination run wild.

Play Barn

Taking care of the animals was both heavy and hard work, and in the past, children helped with whatever they could. In Södergården’s barn, there is a play barn with wooden animals that need to be cared for. Please help us carry water, muck out the cows, feed the pigs, brush the horse, and sweep the walkways.

Leket

In Leket, let your imagination soar. Here, you’ll find Åsen’s little shop, a stove with pots and spoons, and tables with small stools. Outside, there are hobby horses, chickens and a rooster (!), and stilts for both short and tall.

Aunt Tekla’s Baking Day

When Aunt Tekla was baking, various things would go missing from the kitchen. Could it be the House Mouse that’s been up to mischief, or did she simply forget where she put it? Can you help her search? What Aunt Tekla is missing can be found in the link below (feel free to print it out and bring it with you!) or in the red mailboxes at the farm shop and Undantaget.

The Animals in the Village

Our animals are only in the village during the summer months. In the pastures, on the meadows, and around the farm, cows, sheep, and horses graze, while in the village center, you’ll find rabbits, chickens, and pigs. The animals are of old Swedish heritage breeds, and here they live just like animals on a real farm. The pastures are large and hilly, and they are moved around where grazing is available, so they can sometimes be difficult to spot.

Keep an Eye on the Little Ones!

Within the reserve, it is not allowed to drive a car, but remember that Åsens By is a working farm with active agriculture. We who work here drive farming machinery, use agricultural tools, and move animals that may react out of fear or irritation. Feel free to let the children run around, but please keep an eye on them!
